A Dynamic Future of Independent Storytelling.

At Purgatory Studios, we are preparing to launch Purgatory Publishing, a dedicated print arm, designed to present the work of independent storytellers, to the decision makers of the industry.

We are building a vehicle to increase opportunities and further the careers of our community. But before we go to print, we are inviting you to be involved in the creation and evolution of this new venture.

THE DUAL ISSUE SCHEDULE

To open these opportunities to reach all writers, two distinct monthly issues will be published alongside each other.

•  PURGATORY MAGAZINE | Fan Fiction Fulfilment

These issues act as a love letter to the lore of established worlds, featuring the best fan fiction, essays and artwork from our community. This is a celebration of the fandom, by the fandom.

•  PURGATORY MAGAZINE | The Original Anthologies

A showcase of pure creativity. These issues exclusively present Original IPs, featuring Science Fiction, Horror and Mystery Thrillers. This is where new universes are born and new voices are discovered.

THE MONTHLY ISSUES

Published every month, these editions focus purely on the stories. They contain the selected Fan Fiction and Original works for that month, curated to offer a seamless reading experience.

THE QUARTERLY COLLECTOR’S EDITIONS

Published every three months, these expanded volumes are designed for the deeper dive. Alongside the stories, these editions feature exclusive industry content, including:

•  Author Interviews: In-depth conversations with the writers featured in our community.

•  The Writer’s Room: Writing guides, tips and masterclasses curated from our professional course and contributed by the authors themselves.

•  Expanded Art: Full-page spreads showcasing the visual artists behind the covers.

OUR INDUSTRY AMBITION

By publishing these magazines; we are building a directory and a portfolio for our creators.

Our goal is to distribute the Purgatory Magazines in the creative hubs of Hollywood and New York. By placing these collections in the coffee shops and meeting spots of industry professionals, we aim to put your work directly into the hands of those looking for new talent.

OUR SINGLE GOAL

For industry professionals to pick up a copy of Fan Fiction Fulfilment, read your work and see you as a potential collaborator for their next project.

We are launching local with the initial print runs available in select stores in Bath UK, via post and as a digital online subscription magazine.

THE QUALITY

Purgatory Magazine is designed to be a treasured item. With premium paper stock and high-fidelity art reproduction, your creative writing is treated with the respect it deserves.

We aim to publish Collector’s Editions four times per year, culminating in the December Annual.

While this tier includes digital rewards, your contribution is primarily used to fund the printing and distribution of these stories. Join our Patreon to receive the digital edition or subscribe to the Print Tier to receive the physical magazines delivered to your door.

For Writers:

We are officially open for submissions of all formats, from flash fiction and short stories to full-length novellas suitable for serialisation.

•  Your Content, Your Choice: As a creator, you control your distribution. You can publish freely on your digital Project Hub, or opt-in to submit specific works to be considered for our print magazines.

•  Exclusive Opportunities: While your Hub builds your digital audience, submitting fresh, unpublished work for the magazine gives you the chance to be featured in our “Exclusive to Print” collections distributed to industry hubs.
