Alien: Breathe | Press Kit

Alien: Breathe, our first feature-length, live-action production, is a story about the ultimate deadline. For a stranded crew on a hostile, uncharted world, survival is not a goal; it is a seven-day countdown. As they are hunted by the planet’s inhabitants, they will discover that the most terrifying clock is not the one counting down to their rescue, but the one counting down to their last breath.

The Premise:

The crew of a crashed ship find themselves stranded on an uncharted world with a toxic atmosphere. With only seven days until rescue, their mission becomes a desperate gauntlet against the planet’s hostile inhabitants and the ticking clock of their own survival.

The Story:

Alien: Breathe is our first venture into a feature-length, live-action Alien production. It is a relentless, claustrophobic tale of survival which explores a type of horror not yet seen in the franchise.

Fear has a new atmosphere.

Five Facts:

1.  A New Kind of Horror: This story introduces a new core survival mechanic to the Alien universe, where the environment itself is an active antagonist.

2.  Our First Live-Action Feature: Alien: Breathe represents the culmination of our Scalable Production Model, bringing our storytelling into the world of live-action.

3.  A Platform for New Talent: Alien: Breathe will feature a fresh cast of actors, including several making their feature film debut. The production also extends to the score, which will be composed and performed by musicians taking their first steps into cinematic sound design.

4.  A Practical Approach to Horror: The production will face the unique challenge of bringing several terrifying and ‘fan-favourite’ species to life on film. We are committed to utilising a blend of practical effects and innovative techniques to create a grounded and visceral creature-feature experience.

5.  Filming in the Elements: To achieve maximum realism, the cast and crew will be undertaking a physically demanding shoot. The story’s ‘run the gauntlet’ structure will involve a fair bit of climbing and exposure to challenging weather conditions, embedding the cast’s real-world struggle into their on-screen performance.
